In an endeavor to search for the perfect wave or an off-site location, a traveler from Spain has found solace in the natural vistas around, all thanks to his camper home. Sitting along a rural surfer village in Nicaragua, Dani Serran’s camper house is a display of his work in sync with the wilderness. His passion for finding eco-friendly ways of minimalistic construction techniques encouraged him to upgrade from living on a covered patio to a DIY campervan.
Daniel’s interest in tropical architecture made him revamp his own camper space into a DIY housing module. Crafted mainly using teak wood assembled with metal joints, the caravan is made using natural resources. The sturdy wooden frame at the rear end is covered with a corrugated steel roof that enables fresh air and infiltrates the home with light.
Riding on a small budget, and exploring natural resources, the camper sits at just 240 square feet and is made for an estimated $8,000. Its construction was completed by Dani’s friendly neighbors. This moving camper has been stabilized with a cement base. A smooth sliding fabric partition effortlessly glides the front living area into the open vistas. Being a passionate surfer, Dani has dedicated ingenious storage space below the camper housing his most valuable assets: his surfboards!
The façade gives the illusion of open space making the house appear spacious and engulfing at the same time. A large easily maneuvered window with ropes and pulleys lets you take an easy sneak peek into the natural panorama. A wooden table sitting below serves as a small eating nook or as a work desk which is adjacent to a well-equipped kitchen area.

Two beds snuggled side by side in the bedroom serve as a cozy sleep area in this DIY Camper. To feel the warmth and luxury in the bathroom, the teak slats give the feel of a sauna and house a small vanity underneath the sink.
An open shower aids for a quick rinse-off after a dip in the ocean. The house is beautifully lit with hanging paper lanterns and spotlights draping the house in mystic orange light at night. Dani is far from spotting any of his neighbors as he has kept the place only for himself. A small shed sits in the backyard for storage purposes.
