Quite the opposite of the secret passage of Japanese role-playing game ‘Dragon Quest VII Fragments of the Forgotten Past’, which seems tough to find for the gamers; this couple from Imgur has built a really simple secret staircase to their home basement which they refurbished into a DIY home theater room recently. The couple has concealed the staircase under a custom-built box that is re-purposed as seating. Two sides of this box-like structure open up like a cabinet and make way for the hidden lounge area.
The couple wanted the hidden entrance somewhere from inside of their house, so that they don’t have to come out of the house for going to the basement. So the couple decided to cut the main floor for connecting the basement with an easy-to-access staircase hidden underneath the cozy sitting area of the house.
The secret staircase project is really cool, and they might have taken even more time in redesigning their new lounge. Surely, most of the time in this project is spent on making properly-sized boards for the box, while hinges and brackets can be connected in a flurry. They added high-density foam over the upper board and further covered it with fabric for making a cozy seat. What else, a locking mechanism for holding the boards together is also added.
All you need to complete this project is a basement underneath a wooden floor, requisite tools, materials and efficiency to use the tools properly. This cool lounge area is discreetly unknown to all visitors in the house. However, the couple knows a simple and fantastic way to the cozy lounge below a small box, or we can say the mini seating area. It will also serve as a jaw-dropping area for their kids to hang around.
