Eastern Design Office has created a concrete square tube house in the residential area of Kyoto City, Japan. The designers have combined a series of stacked square volumes to raise this edifice. This unique house has a rooftop swimming pool with windows on the bottom that provides a view of the living room below.
Piled up in two vertical and four horizontal lines, the square tubes serve as cantilevers. The ground floor of the house encloses an entrance area that runs from a doorway to the back garden. On the first floor, there are three bedrooms and one walk-in closet. Each bedroom has a big opening on its front side.

The second floor is created with two connected tubes, which features a dining area and a spacious living room. There are two openings on the ceiling that bring natural light through the moving water of the pool located on the third floor.
The light filtering in through the skylights changes its color depending on the time of the day and movement in the water. A square window at the end of the pool provides a gorgeous view of the city and the mountain range on the north and west side.
Located amid modern houses, old wooden houses and middle-size apartments lined up side by side, the concrete square tube house looks spectacular.
