Meet Cmax Foldable Mobile Housing, introduced by the founder and CEO of Cmax System, Nicolas Garcia Mayor. It doubles as an emergency clinic, shelter, glamping, and more. It is a reliable and potential housing system that serves those who need it under the dire circumstances and seems like one of the most reliable assets during disasters.
Mayor tells Homecrux in an exclusive chat, “Foldable housing technology, like the Cmax units, is critical in saving lives during natural disasters, conflicts, and health crises. With projections indicating over 1 billion displaced people by 2030, rapid and reliable shelter solutions are essential. Immediate and dignified response saves lives. Cmax units can be quickly deployed, providing immediate protection and security to displaced individuals. Their lightweight design ensures easy transport to remote areas, facilitating swift response.
At first glance, the box-shaped structure measuring 3 feet long and 7 feet wide appears modest. It looks like 3 feet of storage space, which then expands to 14 feet of living space upon unfolding, making it comfortable for 8 people to sleep. When unfolded, it reveals its true potential as a multipurpose, robust, and versatile unit that can come in handy in various applications.
Inside, it has a high-end flooring and 7-foot-high ceiling offering standing height. The tall ceiling helps expand the space, giving more room for storage, working, and walking. The housing unit is breathable and well-ventilated thanks to the ventilation openings that keep an unobstructed flow of natural air, along with natural light to keep the interior bright.
All these features make the Cmax a state-of-the-art flat-pack unit, which is inventive, functional, and energy-efficient. It uses lightweight aluminum, making the overall structure easily transportable, foldable, and suitable for quick and immediate response to a crisis.
To clarify on materials further and its use, Mayor says, “Our foldable shelters are designed with eco-efficiency in mind, utilizing materials and construction techniques that minimize environmental impact… We use a special composite material that is extremely rugged and easy to repair, ensuring long-term usability and sustainability. One of the standout features is our base fabric, each unit is made from 1,100 recycled PET bottles, significantly reducing waste and promoting recycling. Unlike traditional materials, our design avoids the use of green vinyl PVC, which has a higher carbon footprint. Instead, we use a modern coating system developed in Europe that is more environmentally friendly.”
He further mentions that these shelters also include next-level flat-pack designs, making them highly proficient for logistics. It reduces carbon emissions by 90% compared to traditional shipping containers, which often have to struggle with space management. Mayor says that the company’s commitment to eco-efficiency extends to its goal of making these units CO2 neutral, ensuring that the company provides shelter solutions that are both effective and environmentally responsible.
“They are versatile, serving as temporary homes, medical facilities, and more, with customization options to meet specific needs. Their quick assembly by two persons, in just 10 minutes without tools, ensures that anyone can set them up easily,” he adds.
The versatile pod-like structure can be used as mobile clinic and ICU for medical emergencies. It can also be a glamping tent in the wild as an alternative. During events, disaster, and for humanitarian aid, Cmax becomes an affordable and accessible solution, equipped with the necessities that one requires at the time of need, facilitating survival.
Mayor reveals, “I have travelled to over 100 countries and various crisis zones, and Cmax has been tested in several challenging environments, including the war in Ukraine, where they are used as mobile field hospitals. Their ability to be easily relocated without cranes or extensive tooling – just folded and moved with a bed truck or small trailer – allows doctors to be present in bomb-affected areas at the right moment they need to relocate.”
The company is aiding humanity in crisis and bettering the world with the Cmax Foldable Mobile Housing by donating it. These units have already been both sold and donated across seven countries, including Ukraine, Portugal, Mexico, and Dubai.

“Our donation system is designed to extend our mission of dignifying lives to those in need. For every ten Cmax shelters purchased, we donate one shelter through our Cmax Foundation, a non-profit organization incorporated in Washington, DC (www.cmaxfoundation.org). This ensures that each purchase not only benefits the buyer but also provides critical support to humanitarian efforts… we aim to create a positive impact, ensuring that our innovative shelter solutions reach vulnerable communities affected by natural disasters, conflicts, and other emergencies.”
The Cmax Foldable Mobile Housing is truly a wonderful solutions for various needs during a disaster. We look forward to see more of such technological creations that aid humanity in times of tumult.
