Carl Hansen & Søn is reintroducing Contour Chair, a stunning furniture piece that embodies sculptural and organic design style of the famous Danish designer Børge Mogensen.
First presented at Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Furniture Exhibition in 1949, the chair features an innovative aesthetic with a veneer backrest that showcases possibilities for new forms and expressions.
The backrest, distinguishing the chair design, is a form-pressed veneer shell with two organically shaped cut-outs.
The chair is made from a solid wood frame with angled legs and a curved, backward-sloping seat has an iconic and timeless design. The frame also features Mogensen’s signature details such as mortise and tenon joints with contrasting wooden wedges.

The lightness in form merges with comfort and flexibility, making the Contour Chair capable of blending well with both modern and classic interiors. The chair is available in Carl Hansen & Søn’s stores since May 2019.
