When you think that bus conversions can’t get any cooler, you find another one to intrigue you. A couple, Brendan and Sophia, live full-time off-grid in their 40ft skoolie named Bluenose Bus. For them, having a fully functional mobile home was important, which meant integrating the bus with all the basic amenities that a regular house provides. They converted this school bus into a comfortable residence and now they are enjoying life on the road with their beloved dog.
We have covered many skoolies but this is one of the most spacious, easy-going, and comfortable bus conversions we have seen. The Bluenose Bus has a blue exterior that reminds of the sparkly and calm ocean. The exterior is not the only one reflecting the couple’s love for the ocean, as the interior is also dotted with beach and ocean-oriented decor. To facilitate off-grid living, the rooftop of the bus features 2000 amp watts solar panels making the mobile home energy efficient.
The interior is integrated with a lot of ocean themes, including the entryway, the stairs, and the cabinets. Despite being incorporated with almost everything, there is still plenty of room to walk around. The living area accommodates a very comfy storage-integrated lounge. The spacious workspace is parallel to the living area and is a perfect spot for working without any distractions.
Next is the light-hearted kitchen with extraordinary prep space and a skylight pouring in natural light. It has an L-shaped countertop, a sink, a cooktop, a microwave, an adorable vintage refrigerator with locks for safety, a mini-fridge for storing drinks, and an array of cabinets and drawers. A hammock hangs from the ceiling in the hallway facing the kitchen.
On the opposite side, there is a flip-up counter, which is a smart addition considering they are living in a bus and they need more space. This counter could be their breakfast bar or additional prep space. In that same unit, they have integrated a wood stove that is essential for cold days.

Moving on to the bathroom. It is surprisingly big for a bus home and well-designed. The bathroom of the Bluenose Bus features a vanity sink, a huge shower, a skylight, and a toilet. It doesn’t feel cooped up in there and one can shower in peace.
A little hallway with some decorative elements on the wall takes you to the comfy bedroom with panoramic windows and cozy vibes. There is a warm bed, an air-conditioner to keep the temperature regulated, and a mini projector for cuddly movie nights. The windows add a charm and provide the most picturesque view of wherever the road takes Brendan and Sophia. It must be peaceful to sleep by the sound of the waves crashing slowly with the shore at night.
