A good turntable may range between $300 and $1,000, depending on its sound quality and features. Not the Bang & Olufsen (B&O) turntable, though. The Danish company, renowned for producing high-end speakers, headphones, and TVs, has ventured into the turntables market again. This time, it has joined forces with Saint Laurent for a limited-edition turntable collection, which it will be selling through Saint Laurent boutiques in Paris and Los Angeles for a staggering price tag of $35,000.
The price may not be the only consideration in procuring one of these exclusive turntables, which will be no easy feat. With only 10 units available, the limited-edition turntable is aimed at the most discerning audiophiles and collectors.
So, what makes the turntable special? While it has the B&O’s stamp on it, what really makes the limited-edition collection stand out is its vintage value. Yes, you read that right! Bang & Olufsen isn’t making a new turntable, but is rather reviving the Beogram 4000c (Saint Laurent Rive Droite Edition), a classic it first released in 1972.
As noted by Wallpaper, “This belt-drive turntable was ahead of its time with its stunning mid-century aesthetic and groundbreaking tangential tonearm, which ensured a flawless, fully automated record play.” However, for some reason, B&O halted the turntable’s production in 1974, making the original Beogram 4000c a collector’s dream.
As per the company’s press release, both the physical design and internal components of the turntable have been expertly updated, making them fully compatible with modern needs while maintaining the essence of the original. When it comes to the visual appeal, the updated Beogram 4000c still reflects its vintage roots, retaining the iconic design with subtle enhancements.

Aside from the core design, the turntable boasts sleek aluminum accents and a hand-crafted ziricote wood frame that give it a contemporary yet timeless feel. Bang & Olufsen has restored every component, which includes upgrading the sound quality to an entirely new level.
While the turntable still features the signature tangential-tracking tonearm and supports both 33⅓ and 45 rpm records, the special edition includes a new cartridge and a built-in pre-amplifier to ensure superior audio performance. As mentioned, interested buyers can find these luxurious turntables at Saint Laurent stores in Paris and Los Angeles or can place an order through the B&O website.
