German brand Duravit has trusted the expertise of renowned designer Patricia Urquiola for its latest Balcoon bathroom collection that combines modernity and timeless elegance. Known for her innovative approach, Urquiola has brought premium features and fine craftsmanship to a mid-price segment, making high-end design more accessible. The collection includes everything from sanitaryware and consoles to washbasins and bathtubs, all available in various sizes, finishes, and styles to match different needs.
The objects in the Balcoon series merge simple, geometric shapes with clean lines to create a refined aesthetic. “The design plays with height differences, overhangs and the layering of materials and textures, which is also where the name ‘Balcoon’ comes from,” explains Urquiola.
Starting from countertop washbasins that are billed as the sculptural focal points in the bathroom collection. The designer has placed round and oval basins on a square base for an architectural essence. From washbasins to toilets and bidets, and from bathroom furniture to bathtubs – the entire collection follows this two-level design approach.
The ceramic washbasins are available in wall-mounted or countertop versions while rimless toilets and bidets are available in wall-hung or freestanding versions. All the sanitaryware comes with a DuraShield finish that eliminates 99.99 percent of bacteria and is easy to clean.
Urquiola has created an earthy terracotta tone for the Balcoon ceramic objects. This warm, earthy tone enhances the natural beauty of ceramic, giving it an even more authentic, handcrafted appeal.
The color scheme of the bathroom furniture ranges from white to earthy browns and anthracite. The textured surfaces serve as playful accents while visual appeal is further enhanced with contrasting colors.
The Balcoon console features an integrated back panel that creates a unique spatial look. Below it, Urquiola has placed drawers and open shelves in an asymmetrical pattern. For the finishes, she opted for various color gradients. Consoles with elegant terrazzo finish and fluted furniture fronts add a unique touch to the collection. These bathroom fixtures are available in closed, half-open, and asymmetrical design options and you can also go for mineral consoles, available in three colors.

The Balcoon acrylic built-in bathtubs also stick to the layered design concept. They feature a raised oval edge on a seamless acrylic base that extends into the corners. This design element not only makes them aesthetically pleasing but also easy to clean. The ergonomic interior design offers a comfortable bathing experience while storage space for bath and shower accessories is included in the design.
The Balcoon bathroom collection is completed with faucets for all the products including bathtubs and washbasins. Available in flush-mounted and surface-mounted models, they feature cylindrical handles that seamlessly blend into the faucet body with a smooth curve. Available in chrome, matte black, and brushed stainless steel, the faucets complement the color palette of the series. Furthermore, they come with Fresh Start and Minus Flow features to conserve both energy and water.
