The Ascension wall mirror is an appealing conceptual design by German designer Deniz Aktay. The mirror rejoices in a unique juxtaposition of geometrical shapes such as the golden ratio and the Fibonacci spiral. This distinctive blend of mathematical marvels creates a visually attractive wall-mounted mirror. The conceptual design maintains a stunning aesthetic quality perfect for any space.
Two elements are put together in the design, in which the semi-circular mirror is paired with the tiniest helical ramp wooden shelf. The wooden shelf gives a bit of room to place small things such as rings, keys, or lipsticks while adding a touch of elegance to the design.
“The wood element takes the form of a helical ramp that gracefully faces you, leading to a spacious and elegant storage area. When viewed from the front, it seamlessly integrates with the circular geometry of the mirror itself, creating a natural extension that captivates the eye. The helix appears to gracefully ascend and spiral in both directions, thanks to the mirror’s reflective properties, creating a captivating visual effect that adds depth and intrigue to the mirror’s overall design,” Deniz Aktay told Homecrux.
The shelf has a depth of 45mm which magnifies its functional aspect and balances off with an aesthetic appeal. It is a thoughtful design that adheres to the mirror’s artistic needs, by not being too overpowering or unfathomable, but keeping a fine momentum between form and function. The Ascension wall mirror is carefully crafted with technical exactness.
“The choice of premium materials, including rich walnut and smoked oak, is driven by a meticulous evaluation of their durability and luxurious appearance. These woods are known for their exquisite grain patterns, making each piece unique. Crafting this mirror requires precision beyond machining; it involves a highly specialized and technically demanding process. The wooden helical structure is expertly shaped and finished to perfection, with each curve and contour executed with technical precision,” Deniz Aktay further added.

It measures 400mm in diameter; whereas, the mirror has a thickness of 5mm, which stresses its minimalistic and petite appearance. The wooden shelf is added for additional variety and element for decorative appeal. While the shelf finishes off with a flare, it stabilizes the mirror by providing a much-needed balance.
Talking further about this unique design, Deniz told Homecrux, “As the helix begins its ascent from the thinness at the starting point, the wooden element immediately starts to increase in thickness. This natural progression ensures that the mirror remains stable and sturdy throughout its helical journey. With a meticulous blend of technical mastery, geometric precision, functionality and the selection of fine materials, this mirror concept transcends ordinary design, becoming a timeless work of art that elevates any interior space.”
