US-based home automation company Arlo has been at the forefront of revolutionizing smart home security devices. This approach has been spearheaded by the wire-free video doorbell from the company. This year at CES though, Arlo has announced a touchless video doorbell – amid other devices – that is tailor-made for the current pandemic situation.
There is no image as such to show but we learn, Arlo Touchless Video Doorbell will come integrated with a proximity-sensor that will alert users when a visitor approaches near the door. The visitor hears an audible chime and sees visible light flashing, which is a signal that the doorbell has been pressed. The homeowner is then alerted even before the doorbell is pressed.
It provides vertical field of view that captures an expansive picture. Thus a user can clearly see a visitor from head-to-toe and even a package left at the doorstep. The video recording is enhanced with 180-degree viewing angle, optimized at a 1:1 aspect ratio, and full HD video quality.

Users can communicate with the visitor in many ways – direct-to-mobile SIP calls, two-way audio and pre-recorded, quick-reply messages. The Touchless Video Doorbell connects directly to home Wi-Fi and is hardwired for power.
In the era of COVID-19, the Arlo Touchless Video Doorbell will help homeowners limit interaction with communal points of contact at the entrance. For this innovative approach, this doorbell been named 2021 CES Innovation Award Honoree in the Smart Home category.
