Artificial intelligence (AI) will again take the spotlight at the 2025 CES. From household appliances and health gadgets to pet care products, AI has leaped into every segment of our lives. South Korean company Daedong is ready to further leverage AI in indoor gardening with its latest AI Plant Box. It utilizes AI-driven automated environmental control to enable anyone to grow plants indoors.
Looking like a standard appliance, this smart plant box seamlessly fits with other kitchen appliances in the home. It utilizes the company’s crop-specific growth solution Smart Farming technology to facilitate home-farming.
The technology applies Daedong’s AI analysis algorithm to agricultural big data and real-time monitoring results of the crops to provide the best cultivation solution according to the growth status of the specific crop. This will enable anyone to maximize their harvest of the crops with minimal resources.
The product automatically controls the environmental elements like temperature, humidity, lighting, and nutrient solution for the crop. The smart planter box features easy-to-use cultivation trays suitable for all ages. A genetically tailored nutrition package lets you grow vegetables that match your health needs.

The AI Plant Box also integrates a camera to automatically recognize the seed capsule placed inside. Additionally, the user can monitor plant growth in real-time through a dedicated app and easily check whether the crop is ready for harvest by analyzing it with an AI algorithm. Furthermore, the smart indoor planter comes with energy-saving engineering features such as energy-saving LEDs and an air purification system.
Daedong wants to enable novice urban farmers to grow high-quality crops using the AI Plant Box. It is the winner of an Innovation Award in the “Food & AgTech” category at CES 2025.

Nice AI generated image that they used. This is the problem with the indiscriminate use of AI. None of the things they are using AI for even remotely need to be AI. Recognizing the seed capsule could be done a million easier, more reliable, and less costly ways. Tracking growth and giving the right nutrition is purely basic algorithms, at most. And what’s the point of gardening if the human isn’t even going to pay attention to the beauty of growth or even notice that things are ripe.
