Ever since humans first noticed the regular movement of the Sun and the stars, they were excited to create methods to regulate and measure different passages of time during a day. In the olden days when there were no sources of measuring time, people were totally dependent upon the sunlight to keep the track of current time, but now when we have our own sources of light as well as measuring time, the sunlight has become less informative for us. Inspired by the relation between light and time, India-based industrial designer, and photographer Adil Lokhandwala has created Saturn luminarie to once again couple light with time.
It is a suspended lighting fixture designed to bring stylish illumination to your space while telling the time in a different way. It looks like a sculptural pendant light when seen from a distance, but a closer look reveals that it also serves as a ceiling clock. Two stationery perpendicular rings in the center of the lamp represent specific spots for 12, 3, 6 and 9 while rotating arms with four stepper motors indicate the time.
You can find a variety of decorative pendant lamps to bring character as well as elegant illumination to your space, but if you are looking for a pendant light with dual use, then you can really go with the Saturn luminarie. We are also listing some more innovative pendant lamp designs with dual purposes for people who aren’t satisfied with this pendant lamp cum ceiling clock.
