Wouldn’t it be nice if you could automate your existing curtains? Well, the makers of Slide has heard your secret wish and come up with a smart device that voice-controls your curtains. The best thing about the tiny gizmo is that you don’t need new, expensive curtain rails. It works on the existing curtain rails and turn them smart in the blink of an eye.
It is a small device that can be retrofitted within two minutes on the existing horizontal curtains. It comes with connector sets for curtain rails and curtain rods. After installation, you need to connect it to your Wi-Fi network to automate opening and shutting of curtains.
With the Slide app (supporting both iOS and Android devices), you can set alarms and also support IFTTT (If This Then That), which lets you connect any number of smart devices such as Amazon Echo to voice-control the curtain system. So, get ready to automatically wake up to natural light and close the curtains at sunset. This way it can also help you to save energy by keeping your home at the right temperature.
Currently, the project is raising funds on Kickstarter and the prices start at €69 (approx. US $72). The Slide is estimated to ship to consumers in June 2017.
