Recently, the winners of the 2016 Cairngorms National Park Design Awards have been announced. The overall winner was a new property called Strathdon House in Strathdon, by Brown + Brown Architects. Located near Strathdon in Aberdeenshire, the residential property has a compelling design.
All judges were impressed by this beautiful house that’s being described as an extension to Tigh an Uillt in Nethybridge. The elegant building structure boasts wood and stone exterior with huge glass walls to welcome daylight throughout the day, while maximizing views of the surroundings.
Interior boasts contemporary design and warm furnishings to keep the inhabitants cozy during cold winter nights. The spacious living room includes a wall-mounted fireplace that’s placed right next to the flat-screen television. There is also a minimalist yet stylish bathroom with a large glass wall for enjoying landscape views while bathing.
The house’s minimalist and practical layout is the reason that made it the center of attention at the contest, which celebrated new and longer established buildings and structures. It even helped to mark Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design 2016.
