There is one essence that is found in abundance in Salone del Mobile – and that is uniqueness. Previously, we came across color changing walls, chairs shaped as robotic aliens and even self growing furniture items. And, now continuing on with the novel tradition, we have the SmokeStack outdoor heater by Dutch designer Frederik Roijé, which visually mimics a factory chimney of the olden days. A symbol of industrial progression (as touted by the designer), the heater itself is quite large, as can be comprehended from the wooden stump pictured at its side. As for the whole structural scope, the human-height contraption was built from Corten steel, a hardy metal that provides both safety and protection to the high-temperature prone heater on the inside. The SmokeStack outdoor heater was showcased at Torneria, Via Tortona 32, in this year’s Salone del Mobile.
