If you have a Nespresso machine at home, then you know the trouble of spending extra dollars for purchasing individual pods every now or then. Moreover, single-use plastic is quite harmful to our environment. So, to kill two birds with one stone, Dutch company Bluecup has come up with an appropriate solution with its reusable Bluecup.
What is Bluecup?
Bluecup system contains refillable capsules, replaceable aluminum foils, a capsule creator, and a spoon. To create your Bluecup capsule is easy – all you need to do is fill the capsule with your espresso, place the capsule into the cupcreator, and put a foil on top of the capsule. Once the capsule is ready, you can press and turn the cupcreator, and finally, drop it into the machine to prepare your favorite espresso blend in no time. It allows the users to create espresso that they prefer, rather than what’s locked inside Nespresso’s regular pods.
Design
The patented cup has a soft o-ring on the top as well as the bottom of its upper flange. This ring creates a thermal sealing that eliminates “watery coffee.” Furthermore, foil seal has a rolled edge, which serves as a sort of aluminum spring to hold the foil tight once it gets over the cup’s flange. These reusable Nespresso pods are not meant to last forever, but you can reuse them upto 100 times.
Reusing them nearly 100 times means these pods are environmentally-friendly as compared to regular disposable cups. Moreover, the cost to buy a new Nespresso cup is around 35 cents, whereas reusable Bluecup can be purchased for merely ten cents, hence it’s more pocket-friendly than conventional pods.
Kickstarter
Bluecup has successfully surpassed its initial goal on Kickstarter. A pledge of €58 (approx. US $63) or more will help you secure a family kit that’s expected to be delivered by this December.
