Dog owners can obviously go to great lengths to make their four-legged friends happy and comfortable. But not many would like to trouble themselves in building a giant bed to share with a canine brigade. New York-based couple, Chris and Mariesa Hughes, has actually built a super bed to accommodate their eight rescue dogs with them.
When the couple started to feel too cramped in their king-size bed, they decided to extend their bed instead of kicking the dogs out. The couple runs a dog rescue center in New York, called The Mr. Mo Project, which shelters old and sick dogs.
Over the years, the couple has adopted eight adorable dogs, who were all rescued from various forms of abuse. They are so devoted to their canines that they all sleep in bed together. So, they’ve pushed a full-size bed next to their own to give everyone more space.
“They all love to sleep on the bed with us but our sleep has really suffered lately,” Chris said. “Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night to try to steal a corner of my pillow back from Gremlin,” Mariesa added. “I need my beauty rest!”
The couple commissioned a local furniture builder to make a custom super bed with steps and a ramp. This ramp helps their older dogs to easily make it into bed. It took nearly six months to complete the giant bed for them, as well as their lovely dogs. Now, all of them gets a comfortable area to sleep, without pushing each other out of the bed.
