The concept of open offices has been in trend for long. Specifically, in America, 70 percent of all offices are designed in an open style; which is evident in a study conducted by International Facility Management Association. They are a great choice when workers need to interact and collaborate with each other. But in some cases, privacy is more important to complete the work, so there is a need of workspace dividers like AK 2 lamp in open office architecture.
To overcome this situation, designers Ivan Kasner and Uli Budde have brought up the idea of combining workspace dividers with lighting. They have developed it for Netherlands based brand De Vorm. The AK 2 Workspace Divider Lamp is designed in a way that it can be hung above desks, reading tables and any open workspace to bring privacy along with great lighting.
The divider creates visual and audio protection for co-workers sitting on either side of the table. AK 2 Lamp separates it into two different workspaces and lightens them equally.
The divider lamp is especially perfect for open offices where high noise levels don’t allow employees to work fluently. This large divider cum lamp allows them to work in a relaxed and concentrated manner.
It also has a great feature of sound suppression that adds more privacy while working on something important. Its internal acoustic foam works as sound dampener providing quieter workplaces. A British office equipment company Expert Market reported in 2014 that 54 percent of workers prefer a quiet and segregated working environment.
Its exterior is made from recycled PET bottles, and the lamp is also recyclable after its lifecycle. It comes in 10 custom shades of PET felt which is a durable and UV stabilized material.
