Thanks to IoT and smart technology, we already have plenty of gadgets and smart bots that take care of daily life. Still, with this much advancement, many tasks are still left untouched, and laundry clothes is one of them. But not now, a San Francisco-based startup recently unveiled their automatic robotic clothes and laundry folding machines.
Dubbed as FoldiMate ‘Your Laundry Folding Machine,’ the automatic machine with the help of a conveyor belt, adjustable tray and number of robotic arms thrust out neatly folded clothes in less than a minute.
Imagined with the aim to finish laundry load 2 times faster than manual folding, the machine measures 32 x 28 inches and can fit in most laundry rooms. Easy to use, all users have to do is simply clip-on the freshly washed clothes on the rack located on the outside of FoldiMate. Having the capacity to clip up to 20 garments at a time, by pressing the button present on top, the machine will sense the size and fabric thickness, and will neatly fold it for you.
Apart from folding duty, the machine also removes wrinkles with the help of steamer fitted inside, while the perfume, softening and sanitization option removes the washing odor from clothes. Folding most of your laundry, the automatic machine is not suitable for items like linen, undergarments and socks.
Weighing only 65 pounds, it is designed to sit on top of the dryer, washer or table. Commercially available since 2014, the FoldiMate is priced at $850 and will be available to homemakers by 2017. But interested buyers can register themselves online to know when the pre-orders will start.
