Recently at Samsung Developer Conference 2016, Korean electronics giant Samsung and Legrand, French industrial group, has collaborated to showcase the world’s first Thread-enabled IoT light switch. This smart switch will be powered by Samsung’s Artik, which is fully-integrated chip to cloud solution. Besides providing connected lighting solution to homeowners, this intelligent chip will allow companies like Legrand to reduce their marketing time, while increasing speed of their product development.
Dubbed ‘Ambient,’ the smart light switch comes integrated with a microphone that will allow the users to voice-activate it. Once voice-activated, the smart switch will be able to respond to your queries as well as commands. Moreover, the Thread platform can even form an easy connection with various IoT devices at home to form low-power network.
This will be a great device for futuristic connected homes, offering them secure power network without any failure. Basically the light switch will function as a central nervous system for your home to manage all daily smart home needs.
The latest thread-enabled switch is meant to benefit both private and professional users. It’s going to be a revolutionary take on smart lighting technology, but we’re not sure when these switches are going to hit the commercial market, until we hear from the companies.
