An application update is always to fix bugs and to make life easier, and same has been done by Alphabet-owned Nest Thermostat. As announced by the company, in its latest software updates the home device will bring in couple of new features like Family Accounts and Home/Away Assist, whihc aims to make home more comfortable, safe and secure.
Family Accounts
The family account now will now allow family members to create their own individual accounts, which was not possible earlier. So now maximum 10 people can access the Nest products in home using the Nest App. This will also help family members to change the thermostats settings from their own mobile.
Home/Away Assist
Now capable of tracking your location via smartphone. The Home/Away Assist feature manages the Nest setting according to individual presence. So, when a user leaves the house, the Nest thermostat will automatically switch over to “away mode” and when the person is back home, it will switch over to “home mode”. Working by tracking the phone location, Nest wants to offer more personalized experience to users.
According to blog post published on Thursday, the latest update will not hamper individual security, as it will only check whether you are at home or not. In addition, the latest updates are not limited to Nest Thermostat only; one can also enjoy both new features in Nest Cam and Nest Protect. Hence, offering better and more personalized results to users.
