All chocolate lovers are going to love the La Lumiére au Chocolat lamp shade made of chocolate. Designed by a Stockholm-based designer Alexander Lervik, who is a chocolate lover himself, the La Lumiére au Chocolat lamp mimics the rays of light spreading during the sunrise. The chocolate surrounds the lamp completely in a pyramidal shape.
The lamp is completely dark when you first switch it on. When you switch on the lamp no light is emitted immediately. It’s only when the heat of the light bulb inside the chocolate pyramid melts the chocolate, the light starts to penetrate out, just as it happens when the sun rays spread along the horizon at dawn. As the chocolate melts, the emitted light increases.
Alexander Lervik’s ‘chocolate lamp’ was displayed at the Lightworks exhibition that was sponsored by Belid, at GalleriKleerup Jacobs. All of the chocolate of the lamp melts in about 15 minutes forming solid chocolate chunks which can then be eaten later.
