Smart home hubs are ever-evolving with new features and functionality that simplify modern living. They not only serve as a control center but also become a dashboard for temperature, humidity, and weather updates. The Switchbot Hub 2 is a great combination of all these features, but the brand wants even more functionality with its latest Hub 3. It looks quite similar to its predecessor but physical controls including a round knob have been added to the design for added convenience.
According to the CSA listing, the knob can be used to control air conditioner temperature and adjust media volume from Apple TV, Spotify, and other streaming platforms. There are more physical buttons including a home button, back button, and on/off controls. Furthermore, the quick-scene buttons on the homepage let you switch between four customizable modes with ease.
Just like the previous model, the hub has an onboard display that activates with hand gestures or device movements. It shows indoor temperature and humidity, third-party weather forecasts, and provides real-time status updates for door locks. The listing says the hub can also be controlled with voice commands through Alexa and Google Assistant. Being Matter-compatible, it can be integrated with a wide range of smart home ecosystems, including Apple HomeKit and Samsung SmartThings.
Switchbot says the Hub 3 can connect to Bluetooth-enabled devices, infrared appliances, and streaming media devices to let the user control them remotely. There are no official details about the release yet, so we’ll hang on for a few more weeks until any detailed specifics arrive.
