After the recent Ninja FlexFlame and Masterbuilt grill releases, Smeg, the iconic Italian brand known for its colorful, retro-inspired designs, has unveiled its first-ever barbecue grill. The announcement was made at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Las Vegas, where Smeg also revealed a suite of new products slated for release in 2025. This includes new built-in electric BBQ grills, fridge/freezers, dishwashers, cooking ranges, and even a laundry collection. However, among a gaggle of products unveiled at the show, the BBQ grill stood tall from the rest.
The Smeg built-in electric BBQ grill marks a significant expansion into outdoor cooking, and its versatility is one of its most notable features. Available in three sizes, 24-inch, 36-inch, and 48-inch, the grill is ideal for a variety of kitchen layouts. Tom’s Guide notes, “The larger 36-inch and 48-inch models come equipped with two grills and a griddle, allowing you to grill, sear, and cook multiple dishes simultaneously.”
The grills are crafted from premium stainless steel and are designed for both indoor and outdoor usage, offering flexibility for those looking to integrate it into their kitchen or outdoor living space. Each grill zone has independent heat controls, ensuring even heat distribution for a perfect cook every time. Since the grill is electric, it negates open flames, resulting in less smoke, which is a particularly appealing feature for those looking to use the grill indoors.
Although the barbecue grill doesn’t yet come in Smeg’s signature bright, retro colors (which have become a hallmark of the brand), its sleek stainless steel finish is a nod to the brand’s premium, modern aesthetic. There is still hope that future iterations might include the bold color schemes that fans love.
It’s to be noted that Smeg’s foray into the grilling space comes at a time when competition is fierce. Major brands like Kamado Joe, Traeger, and Weber have already made their mark with new and innovative products for 2025. However, the Smeg built-in electric BBQ grill stands out with its sleek, built-in design and advanced features, including its smoke-reducing technology.
It’s an exciting time for the brand, as we’re currently at the start of a multi-year rollout of our updated large appliance portfolio. The new appliances have been designed to meet the needs and discerning taste of the North American consumer; delivering enhanced features to elevate convenience and performance, an expansion of colors and sizes, plus the introduction into new categories for the brand. This year’s product rollout is the culmination of years of development, and we couldn’t be prouder to finally present these as part of our overall plan for the U.S. market,”
Rod Gower, Managing Director of SMEG USA
Alongside the grill, Smeg has also unveiled a range of other new appliances. At the time of writing, details about technical features are scarce, and pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed. However, what we know is that Smeg’s new BBQ grill and other products are certainly turning some heads.
