When one of my colleagues reviewed the SwitchBot Curtain 3, our sight was set on the next big product from the brand, which is amid a few players in the niche. After teasing new smart window blinds at IFA 2024, the company has now officially released them, marketing them as the world’s first adjustable smart roller shades, which, to our surprise, is a correct claim. The SwitchBot Roller Shade is extendable, trimmable, and interchangeable, allowing users to get a perfect fit for any window without the hassle of custom sizing.
What makes it standout from other options on the market is the wide choice of customization for size and fabric. Choose from four sizes: with width ranging from 22.8-72.8 inches to ensure a snug fit for your window. The curtain box also features a retractable design to fit different window sizes, even with wrong measurements.
The customization doesn’t stop there: you can swap out the fabric to match your décor, with various options available from SwitchBot. Plus, you can keep your existing fabric and switch the fabric for different occasions.
These smart roller shades are powered by a 2600mAh Lithium battery that lasts up to eight months on a single charge. You can charge it using a Type-C charging port, which takes approximately eight hours to fully charge the battery. There is also an option to have a solar panel installed for unlimited power.
You can control the shades via the SwitchBot app, voice commands, wired controller, and remote control. They also support automation scenes and integrate with major smart home platforms, including Apple, Google Home, and Alexa through Matter via SwitchBot Matter-compatible hub. With the Apple Home app, you can control the shades to fully open, fully close, or adjust to a specific percentage. You can also use Siri shortcuts to control it through voice commands.

You can group up to eight devices together and once grouped, all of them will open or close simultaneously. We would also like to highlight the two built-in modes: Sleep Mode which opens the shade to set time and Privacy Mode that closes the shade when leaving the house. If noise is a concern, the shades operate as quietly as 30dB in the Silent Mode.
SwitchBot Roller Shades are the smart upgrade many of us have been waiting for. After all, who would not want to replace standard curtains with a more convenient and stylish solution? If you are among them, the blinds are currently listed for $200, but there is also a discount of $70. These blinds are definitely worth including in our list of top smart window blinds for 2025.
