A cast iron cookware is good, a smoker is fancy, but nothing hits like a perfectly seasoned steak from a charcoal grill. Having seen a few of those over the years, I can say that very few scents are as irresistible as the smoke and char from a sizzling grill. It’s not the grilling season yet, however, grilling companies across the globe are leaving no stone unturned in strengthening their product line right before people start snapping a few models from their respective Amazon shops. We recently talked about Traeger adding new models to its product lineup, it’s time we shed some light on its competitor Masterbuilt.
Since its debut in 2020, Masterbuilt has been changing the way backyard grill enthusiasts approach charcoal cooking. The company has introduced grills that cater to those who prefer the classic taste of charcoal. As reported by Engadget, the company is expanding its Gravity Series lineup with the launch of the Gravity Series 1150, a larger and more powerful addition to the family.
This new model builds upon the success of the Gravity Series 600, offering a host of upgrades designed to take your grilling experience to the next level. The Gravity Series 1150 stands out primarily due to its significantly larger cooking capacity. With 1,150 square inches of cooking space, this grill provides nearly double the food than its smaller sibling. This makes it a perfect choice for those who have joint families or like hosting parties.
The larger size also brings a longer burn time, capable of running up to 15 hours on a full load of charcoal. As per the company, “The hopper itself is designed to hold up to 12 pounds of lump charcoal or 18 pounds of briquettes, ensuring that you have enough fuel for those extended cooking sessions. The innovative GravityFed hopper allows charcoal to naturally fall into the firebox, ensuring that the grill remains fueled and at the optimal temperature without requiring constant attention.”
The grill has an integrated ‘DigitalFan.’ The fan automatically manages the airflow and maintains a consistent temperature, which can be easily adjusted through the built-in control panel or via the Masterbuilt app. Akin to Traeger’s Woodridge lineup, you can effortlessly maintain your desired cooking temperature from anywhere, making it easier than ever to multitask while you grill.

Other notable features include the updated design and increased functionality. Unlike the Gravity Series 600, which comes with a cart-style stand, the 1150 is equipped with an enclosed cabinet for added storage.
Masterbuilt has also made several refinements to the control system in this model. This includes the relocation of the control panel from the left side of the unit to the front of the hopper for easier access. Nonetheless, this system still offers intuitive controls for grilling and smoking with ease.
The Gravity Series 1150 comes with a variety of add-ons that can turn your grill into a fully equipped outdoor cooking station. This includes accessories such as a pizza oven, rotisserie, and griddle inserts, allowing you to expand your culinary horizons beyond traditional grilling. Priced at $1,000, the Gravity Series 1150 is available on Home Depot for purchase.
