Mexican brand Meticulous has debuted its smart espresso maker, which it says is the world’s first robotic lever espresso machine, at CES 2025. After enjoying a $5 million Kickstarter campaign and $1.6 million on Indiegogo, the company is ready to start shipping the coffee maker in March 2025.
The Meticulous Espresso machine combines a digital motor and high-precision sensors to automatically brew a perfect cup. It is designed for users – from experienced baristas to home coffee enthusiasts – to achieve control over the brewing process.
While it leverages newer technology, the coffee machine still generates heat and pressure using digital actuators, sensors, and software. The smart machine has ten digital sensors that monitor and adjust the temperature, pressure, flow rate, and weight of the liquid.
This process helps eliminate the chances of human error, ensuring you get each brew at your desired temperature. It comes with an accompanying app that finetunes the brew to your exact specifications.
You can weigh your coffee grounds directly on the machine. Once it starts brewing, the scale works with the flow sensor to determine the amount of water that pours into the cup. It can adjust its flow accordingly and stop at the right brew ratio. There is even an integrated scale under the drip tray.

Out of the ten sensors, six keep consistent water temperature. The heating coil inside the machine gets the water to your desired temperature in a minute and keeps it there for the entire brewing and extraction process.
Moreover, the machine can prepare a series of classic espresso profiles to make your caffeine shot. You can also download custom profiles from experts around the world to cater to your brew accordingly. The machine is currently available for preorder at $1,350.
