Israel-based design firm StudioKnob has designed Ahoy table lamp that brings the raw appeal of a sailor’s knot to your living space along with expressions of Bauhaus and Brutalism design movements. The lamp takes inspiration from the Brutalism aesthetic, admired for its starkness, simplicity, and lack of unnecessary adornments. Meanwhile, the Bauhaus design adheres to the philosophy of ‘less is more’. By combining these two philosophies of design, the Ahoy lamp significantly adds to its character.
The Ahoy table lamp is made up of brass, concrete, leather, and twisted power cord which is 1.5 meters in length and tied with a 5 meter long nylon rope. The knot known as Turk’s Head (or monkey’s fist) is employed to create this subtle piece of illuminated art.
A white rope has been wound and tightened in numerous layers to bring out a delicate, symmetrical silhouette. Traditionally tied by sailors, the designer bestowed the knot a dramatic element by carefully balancing it on a pair of large, golden knitting needles.
The needles are then poised on a concrete slab base where a sensor is embedded. At the back of the base, a durable plate separates the electrical components and the woven fabric cable that connects to the power supply.

A leather handle at the base of the lamp enables the movement of the fixture when needed. By touching a switch at the base, the light can be turned on. The light flows through the rope and transforms into a masterpiece for your interiors.
This lamp with a modern aesthetic is 21 inches high and illuminates your place with a touch on the switch. This elegant lamp offers a color temperature of 3000k which illuminates the place with warm white LED light. This lamp uses SMD LED that produces less heat than the COB high-power LED lights. Ahoy lamp has 24-watt light which gives a tough competition to the tube lights. Its dimmable capability enables you to enjoy your evening time with a cozy ambiance.
