The Lake Tea table designed by Xia Yiting is a blend of elegance and aesthetics. It has a motion tendency suited for modern home architecture with its curved wood design that creates a balance between motion and stillness.
The Lake has a secret USB jack and a three-hole socket under the table that meets the daily power demand of the users without clutter. A secret drawer on the side features an Austrian Blum 560H series 40cm TANDEM full extension hidden in the under-mount slide.
This table is made using North American walnut, which is processed by 3D curved surface style CNC machining to create the furniture piece from a single wood block. It is painted with OSMO wax oil, with an oil-free paint base. The curved silhouette carved out of solid wood retains the original wooden grains to bring a sculpturally aesthetical quality.
The tabletop of the Lake Tea table is large thus ensuring plenty of surface area to use, while the sculptural narrative of the base adds a sense of organic beauty to the room. The base has two connecting elements that resemble heeled footwear, where one end is slim while the other is girthy.
The designer sought inspiration from the traditional usage of wood in furniture employed by numerous poineers in the industry. The outcome is accentuated by the 3D style curved surface that abides by the organic concept while keeping in mind the modern trends and demands of modern homeowners.
