Hot on the heels of S10 vac’s success, SwitchBot, a prominent name in smart home retrofitting and automation, is introducing its Matter-Enabled auto-refill Evaporative Humidifier. This cutting-edge device is set to be showcased at IFA 2024, alongside other gadgets and smart home accessories soon to be released by the US-based company.
The SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier uses ‘cold evaporation’ tech to enhance indoor air quality, hence offering a smarter approach to home humidification. “Unlike ultrasonic humidifiers that generate fine dust from tap water, the SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier employs cold evaporation that simulates natural humidity by using a fan to blow air over a large, replaceable, water-soaked wick filter, which adds moisture to the air without producing powdery residue,” the company claims.
The device boasts a powerful humidification output of up to 750mL/h and a usage time of up to 22.5 hours. This ensures a balanced and comfortable level of humidity without over-humidifying but also improves air quality naturally and effectively. However, the biggest feature that garnered our attention was its compatibility with SwitchBot Ecosystem.
The humidifier integrates smoothly with the SwitchBot Floor Cleaning Robot S10, providing a fully automated smart home experience without manual water refilling. Working in symphony with the SwitchBot S10, the SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier automatically refills its water box through a plugin system that transports water from the vacuum cleaner to the humidifier, providing a truly hands-free smart home experience.
Another highlight of this humidifier is its Matter compatibility. When paired with SwitchBot Hub 2, users can adjust humidity levels, set schedules, and create automation scenes for optimal comfort. Over the years, a common problem I have faced with SwitchBot gadgets is their noise level. But that doesn’t seem to be the case with Evaporative Humidifiers. The device operates at a noise level below 18 dB, and ensures a quiet environment, making it perfect for bedrooms and even newsrooms. So if your workplace stays high and dry, during winters, this Evaporative Humidifier should be on your buying list.
Now that we are done discussing the technical aspect, let’s take a close look at the design of the evaporative humidifier. Unlike the S10, the humidifier boasts a compact design and comes with wheel integration that allows for easy movement between rooms, enhancing its coverage and versatility. It features a large 4.5l water tank that is easy to refill, and the wick filter can last up to 4 years depending on water hardness. In case you don’t own an S10, SwitchBot also provides you the option to refill water manually, but that would kill the whole purpose of the auto-refill mechanism, the company touts in their claims.
