South Korean designer Jeonghwa Seo has released his Cylinder furniture series that embraces an interplay of juxtaposing materials to strike a delicate balance between softness and brutality. The Cylinder pieces are made using translucent acrylic plates and hollow cast aluminum tubes with a blend of different shapes and colors.
The Cylinder series has seven different tables and a bench in which rounded transparent acrylic slabs and hollow metal tubes are arranged horizontally and vertically. According to the designer,” The Cylinder Bench adapts to its surroundings, while simultaneously imposing upon them through the manipulation of light and shadow.”
The acrylic slab comes in different shades including light green, lilac, amber, and white to contrast with the industrial silver-gray of aluminum. The acrylic slab serves as a seat on the bench while on the seven different tables, it provides a surface for placing and displaying items. The product is conducive to its environment and also gives an aesthetic look to the environment.
Each product in the series is versatile due to the materials used. The best aspect is the translucent acrylic, which gives an intriguing dance of light and shadow.
