Mexico-based Shift Studio in collaboration with Prism Hardscapes has developed a modular Sunflower flower pit that bagged the Red Dot Award 2024 for its interesting design. This fire pit takes inspiration from its eponymous flower for name and form. It is made using concrete like most fire pits, giving it a unique texture and appearance.
While most fire pits are developed using single large molds that are usually heavy and difficult to transport or relocate, the Sunflower fire pit uses a modular approach by incorporating a segmented design. The smaller molds have been used by the design studio to form petal-shaped concrete casted pieces that are supported by internal metal frames.
This allows the Sunflower fire pit to be assembled and disassembled with greater ease for transport. The usage of this approach also simplifies the manufacturing process and enables easy handling, finishing, and storage. Moreover, if any of the singular molds get damaged, it can be replaced easily.
The Sunflower concrete fire pit creates an interesting geometrical shape to adorn your outdoor spaces. Not only does it have better application and functionality but there is an artistic touch to it. When used, it allows the light emitting from the fire to beam out of the gap between the singular concrete petal-like molds, which looks like peeking sunrays.
The Sunflower fire pit can be used in different places. It can be a great inclusion to any backyard and garden where you can spend time with friends or family during winter. It can be installed in hotels and restaurants to provide a cozy and congenial outdoor ambiance for the guests.
