Seems like the renowned e-commerce giant Amazon wants to insert its finger in another pie. The fresh delicious pie is reportedly its own travel service featuring hotel booking site that will go live in early 2015. The site will include a list of selected hotels within major cities of USA such as New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, etc.
According to a report, the company is expected to include range of hotels within a few hours’ drive from aforementioned cities. This is done with the aim to offer Amazon’s clout to independent and boutique hotels that don’t have enough advertising budget. Reportedly, two independent hotels have already signed up to the service that provides efficient room availability at desired pricing.
The user can select hotel types and pricing after seeing photos on the site, moreover the associated hotels will apparently pay a standard 15-percent commission to the users who book services through Amazon hotel booking site. Although the travel industry is quite vast, but it would be interesting to find out how the e-commerce giant would manage in such gigantic trade.
