In today’s fast-paced world, where energy consumption is a pressing concern, we have more and more companies revolutionizing energy management for homes. A noteworthy example is Tesla and Samsung teaming up at CES 2024 for SmartThings Energy, which will help create more convenient, seamless smart home experiences.
As per their deal, Samsung SmartThings now works with Tesla products such as Powerwall, Solar Inverter, Wall Connector, and electric vehicles. This means users can easily monitor energy production, storage, and usage through SmartThings Energy and Samsung devices, apart from the Tesla app.
SmartThings Energy now syncs with Tesla’s Powerwall “Storm Watch”, which means users can prepare for possible power disruptions and outages in advance. They will get alerts on Samsung TVs and phones through SmartThings when extreme weather, like typhoons or heavy snowfall, is expected. Plus, they can use the AI Energy Mode to make the most of their Tesla Powerwall during power outages.
“At Tesla we are excited to add capability to our products to interact with other intelligent devices and software in customers’ homes… We are pleased that Samsung has chosen to be an early developer… Customers will be able to view the status of their grid connectivity across multiple devices and intelligently control home loads to extend their Powerwall energy when off grid,” said Drew Baglino, SVP of Powertrain and Energy Engineering at Tesla.
SmartThings Energy’s integration with Tesla Powerwall will debut at the Samsung booth during CES 2024. Currently, in the development phase, it is slated for launch in the second quarter of this year.
