Metaphorically speaking, New Zealand and France are a million miles away from each other and yet share a lot in common. The two nations are known for their stunning vistas, natural landscapes, delicious cuisines, and rich history. In recent years, both France and New Zealand have also witnessed an impeccable rise in the tiny house movement. So much so that New Zealand-based builder Raglan Tiny Homes latest dwelling, the Ruapuke tiny house looks identical to models designed by Baluchon, which is a France-based tiny house firm.
We can’t be sure if Raglan Tiny Homes has taken some inspiration from Baluchon, but what we know is it boasts an exterior featuring red color steel and timber, which is more of a Baluchon trademark. Nevertheless, the single-storey tiny home is a great design for single/couple living, and can even be utilized as an Airbnb for extra income. The tiny home boasts large double-glazed windows making the home feel expansive.
Visitors enter the living room of the house. It features a bi-fold window and an L-shaped bench beneath. The bench boasts ample built-in storage space and can easily be transformed into a full-size bed. Adjacent is the main bedroom of the house that sleeps two people in a breeze, whilst offering picturesque views of the outdoors. There are full draws beneath the bed on both sides, allowing for tidy, easy-access storage. One would also find a wardrobe with drawers and hanging space, alongside bedside tables with built-in storage in the bedroom.

Elsewhere is the kitchen of the tiny home, which is partially walled off from the living/bedroom space. Similar to a regular tiny house kitchen, it includes a countertop, cabinets, overhead cabinets, a sink, and a few electrical appliances. The kitchen then leads to the bathroom. Featuring a shower, toilet, an opening window for extra ventilation, and a high window for added natural light, the bathroom is compact but doesn’t feel cramped.
Priced at $170,000 the Ruapuke Tiny House does offer loads of space and natural light but falls short on features in my opinion. If you are still curious about booking a tiny home as a passive income generator, visit the official website of Raglan Tiny Homes.
