The modern world is fast-paced and one has to manage work-life balance to cope with the speedy transition of life. Also, we are surrounded by gadgets taking up most of our time during work days. So what is the most important aspect of daily life? I would say it is taking care of your health and managing your day to perfection. Undoubtedly, good sleep is essential to feel energized throughout the day. In the current era, we find many apps and gadgets that help us to manage sleep but very few are based around naps or small sleep cycles.
To that accord, A UK-based sleep-tech startup has created Somvai, a nap-enhancing device. The founders of the company are Stanley and Sam who’ve partnered with a team of researchers, engineers, and scientists from Cambridge and Oxford to create the Somvai. The device will hit mass production in 2024 and is gaining elevated interest.
Unlike an alarm on your phone or wearable gadgets, Somvai functions in a very different manner. It understands your sleep cycles and uses sleep cycle optimization. Imagine you have an online meeting in one hour but feel tired because you haven’t slept well the previous night. This is where Somvai comes to the rescue as it lets you take a nap using its advanced algorithms to wake you up at a point where you feel more alert. Normal alarms that we set on smartphones or other devices don’t have features like Somvai because it is made with a lot of research and science behind our sleeping patterns.
It measures your breathing and movements during sleep from a distance and you can set the time by when you need to be up. It analyses the nap in real time using radar sensing and wakes you up at the perfect time so that you feel energized after a nap. It is not only useful for power naps but for regular sleep as well. Apart from radar sensing, Somvai also makes use of artificial intelligence to detect where you are in your sleep cycle. Isn’t that amazing?
You do not require any app to operate the Somvai napping device and it is rechargeable and portable. Thus, allowing you to take it anywhere because you never know when that quick nap is required!

If you have trouble sleeping, the device helps you do breathing exercises using a rhythmic light guide. This is a great feature for either nap or extended sleep at home. It wakes you up by mimicking the natural brightness of sunrise. The white and brown noise feature in Somvai helps mask the external sounds so that you can sleep with a consistent background hum of white noise or deeper calming tones of brown noise. This ability of the Somvai napping device creates a perfect auditory environment to fall asleep.
Interestingly, there is a lot of scientific research that links small sleep cycles or naps to good brain health. It even delays aging by three to six years. Therefore Somvai is a smart investment for your overall health and well-being. Also, it makes you feel energized and less fatigued because the device prevents you from waking up during deeper sleep cycles. What more? Somvai sleeping device is personalized for every user as it uses machine learning and AI. The project is currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter with the pledge goal successfully achieved.
