The idea of a hand candle has become a classic Halloween décor in the past couple of years. But did you know that this particular holiday decorative can be made at home with just a handful of ingredients? Yes, that is true. So I put my money where my mouth is, and the result is flattering. Check out my bleeding hand candle tutorial on YouTube when you’re ready or follow the step-by-step instructions for the Halloween decoration idea below:
Materials Needed:
- Melted wax
- Latex glove
- Red crayon
- Wicks
DIY Bleeding Hand Candle for Halloween
- Take a latex glove and needle the wicks through all the fingers
- Make sure to tie the five wicks together on the opening side of the glove so they don’t fall inside the hollow glove
- Now, take a small portion of melted wax and mix red crayon in it
- Pour spoonfuls of red wax inside the glove, making sure the liquid is entering each finger evenly
- Let the red wax cool down a bit, then pour the rest of the wax inside the glove. Make sure you’re holding the wicks upright in the center of the glove opening
- Now here is the tricky part; to make sure the hand candle doesn’t come out swollen and poofy, you’ll need to hold it in the air for a while and apply pressure around the palm area of the glove to have the wax spread equally
- Once the wax is cooled down, you can cut the latex and reveal a truly spooky hand candle
- If it is uneven at the base, you can cut it to make it smoother so it will stand upright
- There you go, light up the wicks and watch the hand candle bleed
