The thing with tiny houses and camper trailers is, irrespective of how big or small they are, you’d need to tow them when you’re on the move. Though a tiny house is suitable for a couple or a big family desirous of a cozy home, it is not of much use to a loner who loves rambling from one countryside to another.
I am not against the concept of a mobile home but there is no point in pulling a trailer behind your truck when there is a fine substitute in the form of an automobile that offers the services of two, in one. I am referring to the 1970s Volkswagen Beetle that is now a tiny house on wheels. Dubbed Holzhaus, the vintage car doubles as a camper and sleeps a single person with ease (with little modification).
Holzhaus tiny house boasts a rustic appearance, courtesy of a few Alpine craftsmen who draped the top of the original chassis with wood back in 1995. So, what was originally envisioned as a 1970 VW Beetle 1302 and hailed as a Super Beetle model in the United States, has now been transformed into a cozy rustic cabin.
A hood and a rear-engine lid are two elements in my opinion that add to the overall beauty of the car home. On that note, Swiss craftsmen painted a mural showing an alpine scene with a waterfall over it. In addition to the front and rear portion painting, the wheel has been colored as well. Even the dashboard is not left alone; it is painted in blue and white hue to match the overall aesthetics.
Holzhaus is currently up for grabs in Italy where it is open for bidding until July 20. As per the listing, the craftsmen who added a wooden coating to the vehicle have carved the lumber by hand for the exterior and interior. Speaking of wood, the interior and exterior radiates rustic vibes with windshield wipers and bumpers, both finished in wood.
Completely made from carved and hand-painted solid wood, the car also features a bronze eagle that poses on the roof, next to the chimney vent. Yes, you heard it right there is a chimney in the Volkswagen attached to a tiny fireplace stationed in one corner that would keep you warm during winter months.
In addition to the fireplace, the mobile home is accoutered with a round table in the center which is encompassed by a three-sided bench allowing users to sit and eat in peace. In case you to turn this area into a sleeping space, you might need to make some minor tweaks to the interior.

Whether it’s functional or not, only time will tell, but the seller claims that the 1600cc VW engine of the car remains intact despite the conversion and it might run pretty well. You might want to carry out a technical inspection before settling for that truth!
