Multifunctional furniture has gained significant importance as people strive to make the most out of limited space in their homes. In response to this trend, designers are coming up with creative furniture designs that effortlessly adapt to various situations. Portuguese designer João Teixeira has also conceived a side table that can be used in different ways, and we are sure you will definitely want it in your home, owing to its versatile functionality.
Named after the French novelist Marcel Proust, the side table is distinguished by its slatted design that enhances its overall functionality and allows the users to employ their creativity to decide its usage. Apart from being a side table, it can also serve as a clothes rack, and you can even stack wine bottles, books, and headphones in its crossed-section design.
The Proust side table comprises wooden slats with gaps in them that enhance the functionality of the furniture piece. The gaps in the side table provide space to hang clothes, store books, and use it in various other ways. There is a compartment in the bottom that can be used to store shoes, blankets, and other small household items.
The Proust side table can also be used in landscape orientation which increases the top surface to use it as a coffee table. Even though the slatted design makes the Proust table multifunctional, there may be drawbacks. It can be laborious to clean and stability could be a concern with things stored in it.
