Whether you are in your office or working from home, a well-designed desk is a prerequisite for good performance. A high-quality desk not only helps you stay organized but also enhances your performance. German architect Deniz Aktay has designed one such desk that keeps things neat and clean, “especially in the context of a more and more complex and all-digital world.”
Dubbed BACKUP, the simple desk features a tabletop poised on tapered legs. “I have used pure and simple material to design it. All it took was multiple plywood sheets with a linoleum covering,” Deniz tells Homecrux. The main idea behind the design is to keep the working space clutter-free which the German-based architect does by dividing the tabletop into three sections.
First comes the work area, which provides decent space for your everyday objects and accessories within reach. You can place your keyboard, mouse, diary, and your mobile phone here. It is followed by a gap in between. The little depression area is the perfect substitute for drawers as you can put everything from pen to paper inside and within sight. The angular gap makes it suitable for housing media devices as well. This helps you work on your PC, while simultaneously binge watch your favorite programs, if you prefer.
Following this, we have the deposit area that dwells all of your appliances and heavy machinery with the likes of screens, speakers, books, docking stations, and many more. “The idea of BACKUP is to rethink the freely playable concept of a flat area offered by classic desks because this freedom comes along with great disorder,” states Deniz Aktay. “BACKUP is designed to work as a daily support for the new digital sensibility by enhancing it with storage possibilities for general technological equipment and devices,” he adds.

The three areas generated on the top are meant to help the user keep things organized and stored nicely. As working from home becomes the new normal and a clutter-free space becomes more and more important, BACKUP will help you ace space usage and offer you multiple ways to keep things organized.
