It is true that I have a personal bias toward furniture coming from European markets. But it shouldn’t be surprising, since the tables, chairs, and sofas born in Europe (Italy and Germany in particular) are not only sustainable and aesthetic but also flaunt innovative designs. Germany-based furniture brand Bretz is renowned for its timeless fabric and superior structure. The furniture brand has recently unveiled their modular sofa system dubbed ‘Balaao’ and its voluptuous form looks so cute and cuddly.
The core structure of the furniture is a solid wooden frame, topped by a “classic upholstered structure with Nosag and Bonell springs and a multi-layer, molded premium foam structure,” making the furniture cuddly and comfy like no other. In fact, Balaao modular sofa is named after the Portuguese word for Balloon. It boasts a bulbous formulation of the foams, thus lacking any hard edges.
As per the company, the modular upholstered furniture system is based on three elements: three-seater, corner combination, and récamière. When merged together, the furniture – equipped with armrests and backrests – provides multiple sofa variants. The collection is completed by the Balaao armchair and a pouf, adding to the overall aesthetic of the room. The armchair features a curvy silhouette and boasts a rounded shape offering comfort and coziness to the user.

Providing a seating solution suitable for every room, Bretz’s sofa system is poised on cast aluminum feet. The upholstery is finished in four different colors ranging from iridescent royal blue, and bright ocher to anthracite and muted white, hence exhibiting the poetic look of a cloud.
