I asked Deniz Aktay when his conceptual designs would materialize and be part of our homes and offices, to which, he replied, “I have plans in the back of my mind. I am aiming to release some pieces shortly, but nothing specific of what it would be.” The designer has quite a fanbase on social media and has been garnering attention for his 3D furniture renditions. The Black Star side table is his latest creation that has left us bemused with its intriguing design.
The table consists a metal top poised on an artful cutout metal base. The exact shape of the design is a little difficult to decipher, but it looks like a pyramid or tetrahedron to me. However, unlike a tetrahedron, the design has six faces instead of four due to the cutout base. The elegant cutout metal goes on to meet the flattop and impales its surface thrice.
The metal base keeps the table sturdy and the cutouts ensure a star-like shape for the side table to flaunt. In addition, the spiking of the metal top adds a nice touch. The table base is finished in black while the tabletop boasts a beautifully contrasting golden tint. The metal cutouts also leave the base hollow in many places, which adds to the beauty of the design and is a major highlight of the Black Star side table.

Aktay abstained from providing much information about the current design, but the designer did say, “Some of my designed pieces would be available in the market within two years and that is what is keeping me very busy with things.”
