For making our lives easier, robotic devices are gradually becoming part of our households. From keeping an eye on kids or pets to cleaning your house, robots are being created for almost every purpose. To revolutionize the market, Trifo, a household robot company, has come up with a smart AI robot vacuum named Lucy that we first learned about at the CES this year.
What makes Lucy stand out from the rest of the cleaning bots is its ability to function as a security device for your home. Yes, you read that right. Lucy not only cleans flooring but also guards your doors while you’re busy working or sleeping.
The vacuum-cum-security robot is available with all essential equipment to serve its purpose. The device is integrated with cameras that enable it to offer day and night surveillance. It features a 1080p HDR camera with depth sensor and infrared for night vision.
Another exciting thing about Lucy is that it’s equipped with high-level intelligence abilities that make it convenient to divide and recognize different rooms. Indoor mapping ability ensures that if the robot sees a sofa or bed in your room, it will recognize it and label the room as a living or bedroom – based on the presence of a certain type of furniture.
The smart robot cleaner can be controlled using Trifo Home App and be designated with cleaning areas using the app. Lucy is Alexa-enabled and can follow instructions to clean and refrain from non-clean zones. It can be remotely controlled to set ‘no go’ zones by simply selecting areas on the home’s floor map.
Lucy can also determine different objects, hence avoids bumping into them. It makes use of 3D semantics and 3D geometry to identify objects an inch high. So accidentally running over pet poop or slippers is not going to be a case with Lucy.

This AI robot is powered by 6-core ARM SoC and it comes with a 5,200 mAh battery that enables it to run up to 120 minutes on a single charge. So, it can easily clean your house in one single go without needing another charge. It comes with 3,000 Pa suction power that can clean any amount of dirt, hair, or crumbs off the floor with ease.
Currently, Lucy is up for crowd-funding on Kickstater. If you want one, you can pledge a minimum of $519 and it should be shipped your way as early as September of this year.
