Swedish brand Hästens handcrafts luxurious beds and mattresses using natural materials such as cotton, horse hair, wool, and flax. Vividus bed, proclaimed as the world’s most luxurious bed was one of their most reckoned creations until. In 2020, the company has teamed up with renowned Canadian designer Ferris Rafauli to create Grand Vividus – the world’s most expensive bed that’ll cost you upwards of $378,500.
This continental style bed features leather and cotton details along with golden brass nameplate (that refers to Hästens origin as a saddle-maker). The bed is completely handmade and is designed to be a functional work of art in a bedroom.
The bed uses shagreen and nubuck leather and takes at least 600 hours for craftsmen to produce one of these beauties in a factory in Köping, Sweden. All the leather details are secured with golden brass studs and both mattress and bedframe are covered in checkered prints.
The bed is made using 100-percent breathable cotton and upholstered by hand with a unique woven fabric designed by Ferris Rafauli, based on Hästens’ iconic horse insignia originally created in 1917. There are four color options of leather chosen by Rafauli to suit most interior color schemes.
The Grand Vividus bed represents a new level of comfort, craftsmanship, and luxury. The hefty price tag is not just for the design and use of naturally comforting materials but is also for the bed’s life expectancy of up to 50 years.
