When Italian furniture manufacturer Alias exhibited its Time armchair at Salone del Mobile 2019, it was awarded with Stylepark Selected award and regarded by the jury as “must-see” during the event.
Designer Alfredo Häberli, who designed the chair for Alias, derived inspiration for it from the ancient paper folding art we fondly know as Origami. The design revolves around turning a two-dimensional sheet into a three-dimensional shell that serves as a seat.
The shell of Time armchair comprises multiple composite wood sheets supported by a slim metal frame. These sheets are fitted together to create an ergonomic and flexible chair design. Time is available in two models, one of which features a cushion with quilted cover in fabric or leather on the seat for enhanced comfort.
