Sofia Alexiou, a university student created this wooden lounge chair for her final project. She named it 1.285 after number of nails she has screwed into the DIY wooden lounger. The chair design is somewhat similar to the DIY outdoor lounge chair by Mike Montgomery, in which he has used a number of slim wood slats to craft the chair.
With built-in book storage, this slatted chaise lounge makes a value addition to the library. It features a curved back and seat that not only allows users to lie down comfortably but also adds something special to the chair design and silhouette. Finished in exotic light brown, the bookshelf lounge chair boasts charming wood accents. The technique she used to DIY the bookshelf lounge chair is really simple and doable. If you have woodworking experience, it can be an inspiration for your next weekend project.

The theme was to create a sight specific sculpture, and she conceived the bookcase chair for the library of her university. She wanted to make students understand that one can go to the library even when they don’t have exams and relax, read a book or just daydream.
Her work was exhibited at University’s main entrance.
