At CES 2019, the Palo Alto-based startup Currant is debuting industry’s first AI-powered in-wall smart outlet designed to minimize energy consumption.
It monitors energy usage and offers personalized suggestions to save money on energy bills. By means of the companion mobile app, it allows turning off electronic devices and appliances from anywhere; you can even set up automatic switching.
The Currant smart wall outlet is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home making it able to control anything that is plugged into the smart outlet with voice commands.
It will be available in a 15 amp version for homes and a 20 amp outlet designed for the commercial market. In addition to smart wall outlets, Currant also announced to add a number of new features, including outlet locking and customized alerts to its Wi-Fi smart outlets.
Hasty Granbery, founder and CEO of Currant said;
We are on a mission to help reduce the insanely high levels of energy consumption in the United States. To that end, we are thrilled to announce our newest offering in what will be a long line of energy-saving smart home and commercial products. Currant Smart Outlets will work in essentially every environment — home or commercial space. We can help anyone cut energy consumption, save money, and make a positive impact on our world without any inconvenience to their day-to-day lives or activities.

Each Currant smart wall outlet analyzes real-time electricity usage, displaying it in intuitive graphs, breaking down energy consumption and cost by the hour, day, month, or year. The companion mobile app can be used to monitor and control anything plugged into the outlet, whether you are at home or office.
Currant will be showcasing the Smart Wall Outlet and its Smart Wi-Fi Outlet equipped with new features at CES ShowStoppers.
