PassivDom: Self-Sufficient 3D Printed House Available for Pre-Order

3D-printing technology has revolutionized the housing industry, as now various companies have started building homes in minimum time and budget. A few days ago, we told you about the San Francisco-based firm Apis Cor that 3D printed a residential house under an affordable price of $10K in just 24 hours or you may have heard the buzz about the Chinese company that can build ten houses in just one day, but none of them has made 3D printed houses available to customers till date.

We also informed about the Ukrainian startup PassivDom who revealed its off-grid 3D printed modular homes that can be moved to any place. If you wish to buy a 3D printed home, then they have good news for you, as now it has started accepting pre-orders for these transportable self-powered homes.

According to 3ders magazine, with the starting price of US$32,000, the company is offering self-sufficient homes that generate energy from solar panels, collect rainwater for reuse and employs a grey-water system to keep all things eco-friendly.

Self-sufficiency, low carbon footprint, high thermal performance, comfort, and openness are some of the interesting features of these solar-powered 3D printed houses. The company claims to print a house in just eight hours and after that, it takes around 24 hours to add windows, doors, plumbing, and electrical systems, manually with hands.

3D designs for these passive homes are created at PassivDom’s factories in Ukraine and California, while major components of the house including floor, roof and walls are built from carbon fiber, polyurethane, resins, basalt fibers and fiberglass with the help of a 7-axis 3D printing robot. Use of innovative construction materials makes it a low-maintenance house that is perfect for glamping and using as a private lodge in woods.

PassivDom claims to print homes in just 8 hours and then deliver it to the customer in just one day. You receive a completely ready-to-use home as it includes furniture, household appliances, pillows and other systems. All systems of the home can be controlled using smartphones and you can even combine multiple units to create a larger space.

As these houses are available in different specifications, so one can use them for every type of property. For now, two 3d printed house models are available for purchase, namely ModulOne and ModulTwo.

ModulOne:

In this house, solar panels are installed on the roof to create an optimal amount of energy to power the house. The 3D printed home is designed for easy transport and can be purchased in three different configurations.

ModulTwo:

It is an ideal housing alternative for people in need of a dwelling that can be expanded. This house comes in modules that can be assembled with other modules to create larger space. It is also available in three different configurations.

These houses not only provide quick and affordable housing but also help you minimize utility bills as well as the overall carbon footprint on your environment. You also have the option to choose from standard, fully-furnished or autonomous versions as per your needs. The company didn’t reveal anything about the construction process, but after it comes to the market, we will update you more.
