Are you someone ready to shell $5,000 to make a perfect dessert in your kitchen? If yes, then take home the ChefJet 3D printer debuted by 3DSystems at CES. Designed by architect and designer Liz Von Hasseln, ChefJet 3D printer can print sugar to make everything from cake toppings to candies and drink accessories. Along with the ChefJet, 3DSystems also unveiled the ChefJet Pro, a bigger version of the ChefJet printer. Scheduled to be priced at little under $5,000 and 10,000 (actual price not announced yet), the ChefJet and ChefJet Pro can print single color objects up to 8-x 8-x 6-inches and 10-x 14-x 8-inches respectively with full detail and color.
With the ChefJet and ChefJet Pro consumers don’t really need to have a steady hand in order to create tasty desserts and candies. Consumers can now use a computer-aided design (CAD) program and create their own sugary masterpieces. User can also take a leaf and not design their delicacies from scratch, they can use 3DSystems online community and marketplace, Cubify or a recipe book provided with the printer to print readymade designs. Both printers will be available in second quarter of the year.
